Feeling a little down or off doesn’t have to last all day. Small changes in your routine and mindset can lift your spirits and help you feel better quickly. Whether you’re dealing with stress, fatigue, or just a general low mood, there are practical steps you can take right now to improve how you feel. Here are some "easy to follow" advice.

Practice mindful breathing
When you feel overwhelmed or low, your breathing often becomes shallow. Mindful breathing helps you regain control and calm your mind.
Try the 4-7-8 technique: Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, and exhale slowly for 8 seconds.
Breath in breath out and count to 10 and then back to 1. Repeat for a few minutes: Every time you breath out you count 1, continue to 10 and then back to 1, repeat five times or more.
Mindful breathing is a tool you can use anytime, anywhere.
Engage in a creative activity
Creativity can be a powerful mood booster. It helps you express emotions and distracts your mind from negative thoughts.
Draw, paint, or color. You don’t need to be an artist; just enjoy the process.
Write in a journal. Putting your thoughts on paper can provide clarity and relief.
Cook or bake something new. Focusing on a recipe can be both fun and rewarding.
Creative activities give your brain a break and help you reconnect with yourself.
Connect with others
Social connection plays a big role in how we feel. Even brief interactions can improve your mood.
Call or text a friend. Sharing a quick chat or a laugh can lift your spirits.
Spend time with a pet. Animals offer unconditional love and comfort.
Join a group or class. Meeting people with similar interests can create a sense of belonging.
If you’re feeling isolated, reaching out can be the first step to feeling better.
